Hengistbury Head Long Groyne Baseline

Client: Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole Council

The aim of this survey was to conduct a baseline ecological survey of Hengistbury Head long groyne prior to construction works starting in April 2024.

To assess the baseline communities of the limestone rock armour comprising the short and long groyne, quadrats were used to assess species abundance in the intertidal zone. Timed surveys were conducted to complement the quadrat assessments.
